Woods End Trailhead Reopens After Renovation +

May 5, 2026 – The City of Laguna Woods’ Woods End Trailhead reopened on May 5, 2026, after having been closed for several months of renovation. The Woods End Trailhead is part of a 10.6-acre property owned by the City of Laguna Woods and operated by OC Parks that provides hiking access to the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, including the nearby James Dilley Greenbelt Preserve and Barbara’s Lake. May 4, 2026 – A Statewide Direct Primary Election is scheduled for June 2, 2026. A ballot drop box and vote center will be available in Laguna Woods. Ballot Drop Box – From May 4 through June 2, 2026 at 8 p.m., voters will be able to place their completed ballots in a drop box located outside Laguna Woods City Hall (24246 El Toro Road, Laguna Woods, CA 92637). May 1, 2026 - The City of Laguna Woods is pleased to announce that it has received the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers’ “Operating Budget Excellence Award” for its Fiscal Years 2025-27 Operating Budget. March 24, 2025 – The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (“CAL FIRE”) has released updated Fire Hazard Severity Zone maps for Southern California, including Laguna Woods. The Fire Hazard Severity Zone maps identify areas as “moderate,” “high,” and “very high” fire hazard severity zones based on consistent statewide criteria and the severity of fire hazard that is expected to prevail.
